IMPORTANT SHIPPING INFORMATION
Pets can fly. But whether they get carried on, checked in or shipped as very precious cargo, there are a lot of requirements and restrictions in place to protect your pet and make sure they are safe and comfortable.

We know your pet is an important member of the family. Be sure you know all the scoop on keeping him safe and secure.

Important weather and health restrictions are in place and will be followed completely to provide for the safety of your pet.

Weather Restrictions:
Summer Restrictions—May 15 through September 15
•Pets cannot be checked as baggage on some flights.
•Pets may be shipped as cargo.
•Cargo locations may not be located in the airport terminal, so be sure to contact your destination terminal for more information.

Year-round Restrictions
Pets will not be accepted as checked baggage but may ship as cargo during extreme weather if at any point during the animal's trip the temperature is forecast to be:

Below Above
•20 degrees Fahrenheit (-6.7°C)
•For temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7.2°C) an acclimation certificate signed by a veterinarian is required.
•75 degrees Fahrenheit (21.1°C) for snub- or pug-nosed dogs and cats. See chart below.
•85 degrees Fahrenheit (29.4°C) for all other breeds.

Exception:
In most cases, pets are accepted to/from Anchorage, Alaska when temperatures are forecast below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Most airlines reserve the right to refuse live animals as checked baggage and as cargo if the animal's health is in question and/or if the health of the animal may be jeopardized by extreme conditions.

Health Requirements:
Health Certificate
A health certificate is required when shipping your pet as air cargo. Some airlines will not require a health certificate for carried-on or checked pets, upon arrival, however, the certificate may be required by the state. Because of this, any animal that is flying will need a current health certificate.

The certificate must be issued by a licensed veterinarian within 10 days of transport. The certificate must contain:

•The shipper's name and address.
•Any tag numbers or tattoos assigned to the animal.
•The age of the animal being shipped (USDA regulations require animals be at least 8 weeks old and fully weaned before traveling).
•A statement that the animal is in good health.
•A list of administered inoculations, when applicable.
•The signature of the veterinarian.
•The date of the certificate.

Because there are a lot of variables with shipping, I will be in close contact with you to facilitate the processes. To make things easier for my wonderful and greatly appreciated Vet, we do our shipping on Wednesdays. Flights originate out of Raliegh, NC and usually leave around 7:30 a.m.  I try to fly Delta as they have been excellent to work with and take extremely good care of the puppies in route.
There are several different options available to get your pet to its final destination, including being brought into the cabin with you, checked as baggage, or being shipped.

Pets As Carry On
Your pet can travel with you in the cabin for a one-way fee. Pets permitted in the cabin include puppies. The following restrictions apply:

•Your pet must be small enough to fit comfortably in a kennel under the seat directly in front of you. Maximum carry-on kennel dimensions are determined by your flight. You must contact your airline reservations to determine the appropriate kennel size.
•Your pet must remain inside the kennel (with door secured) while in the boarding area (during boarding and deplaning), an airport lounge, and while onboard the aircraft.
•Your pet in-cabin counts as one piece of carry-on baggage.

If you would like to carry your pet with you, and many people have done this, we ask that you make the flight arrangements yourself so you will get firsthand the necessary information. We will provide the required health certificate.

Pets As Cargo
Delta provides the following information.

•We provide safe and reliable year round transportation for your pet.
•Your pet will travel from origin to destination with the same priority as Delta DASH shipments. See Pet Shipping Rates for more information.
•All live animal shipments are required to be pre-booked prior to arrival at the origin facility.

•We have climate-controlled Live Animal holding areas in our four hub cities: Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas and Salt Lake City.
•Upon arrival in the destination city, pets will be delivered to the Delta Cargo facility within 60 minutes.
•All shipments must be picked up at the destination city cargo facility based on the destination station's guidelines.
Because flying is stressfull, we do our best to prepare our puppies for this venture.
They recieve time to get adjusted to their crates so they feel they are in comfortable surroundings and have some time to sleep alone in order to reduce their seperation anxiety.
We do not tranquilize any of our animals.
They start their trips with a fresh bath but along the way they may encounter difficulties. We ask that you be understanding when your new puppy arrives as they may be dirty. A warm bath will fix the problems but try not to make this the very first thing you do as they have been through a lot. They will really need a lot of love.
